THE COMPELLING NEED
To review the impact of the UNA Forum on ‘United for Peace and Prosperity’ that was organised in Church Stretton in 2012; learn from the findings; to enable new plans & priorities to be created.

ISRAEL PALESTINE FOCUS
An archive of information has been sustained since 2012 beginning with a recording of Sir Jeremy Greenstock’s after-dinner presentation in the Silvester Horne Institute on project launch day.

ADVANCED INFORMATION AIM
To assist participants in the recall of key issues to enable most of the time spent in looking forward during 24th October at 7.30 pm at the zoom meeting. A series of fact and issues will be provided for all.

2012 HEADLINES
Project birth: UNA Shropshire decides in January to focus upon the Middle East and plan a major event with an Israel Palestine focus. Sir Jeremy Greenstock, UNA UK Chair to be invited as Principal Speaker.

UNA Central Region: Sir Jeremy accepts the invitation from the Region as Principal Speaker at a two-day forum in Church Stretton – including a dinner for 82 guests, which was sold out by the middle of June.

An interactive forum: Following the Principal Speaker, UNA at HQ, Branch, Youth organisations and in partnership with local voluntary organisations, took a leadership role in sharing their ideas.
326 IDEAS CAPTURED
The number of ideas and suggestions to be considered for plans to be developed. UNA adopted 25 methods of learning that were in use for the first time in Branch. Total cost incurred by UNA was £416.62.

POST FORUM REACTION
50 pieces of unsolicited, complimentary, written feedback received. 37 of the feedbacks received within 48 hours of the Forum finishing. Overwhelmingly positive

HEALTHY CHALENGES
Sir Jeremy left the Forum three challenges. To create a plan for contributing to a peaceful Middle East; to develop a toolbox for projects throughout UNA; and to prepare for a ‘Net Zero’ climate change.

UNA BENEFITS
Central Region and Shropshire Branch benefitted from recruitment of new, young leaders, almost immediately, after the Forum. The Forum was also the first UNA event attended by current Branch Chair.

UNITED NATIONS CHARTER
A copy of the Charter was presented to the Town Mayor, Coun. Tom Beaumont by Sir Jeremy Greenstock. ‘Viva the whole community’ was Sir Jeremy’s handwritten message to the town on Charter front page.
